History and medal information - A Miniature Russian Empire Danubian Cross is a small, historical commemorative decoration for Russian soldiers. It was awarded for participation in the Russian – Turkish War of 1877 - 1878 recognizing their crossing of the Danube River into Ottoman territory to fight the Turkish Imperial Army. The decoration itself is a type of Danube Crossing Cross for service during the war.
