History and medal information - Obverse - the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, Reverce - the crowned harp insignia of the RUC with the words FOR SERVICE round the foot. Royal Ulster Constabulary Medal is awarded for 18 months continuous service since 1^st January 1971, but the award was made immediate on the recipient also being awarded a gallantary decoration or a Queen's commendation.
