MINIATURE CHINA SECOND WAR MEDAL PEKIN 1860 AND TAKU FORTS 1860 CLASPS MEDAL. Ribbon Colours - Crimson with Yellow edges. Item - Genuine Miniature Medal in mint condition with ribbon. History and medal information - This medal was awarded to British servicemen who took part alongside the French in the campaign against China which had been provoked by hostile acts against European nationals. The Royal navy under Admiral Sir Michael Seymour destroyed a Chinese Flotilla at Fatashan Creek preparing the way for the attack on Canton whose capture brought the first phase to an end in June 1858. Other battles in this campaign such as Taku Fort and Peking involved much larger numbers of troops.
