Item - Genuine Miniature Medal in Mint condition with ribbon.

History and medal information - The medal has a Wyon profile of Queen Victoria on the front and Britannia seated on a plinth decorated by a cannon n with a coastal scene in the background and Baltic round the top.

This medal was granted to officers and men of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines for operations against Russia in the Baltic at the same time as the war in Crimea.  It was also awarded to 100 members of the Royal Sappers and miners who were engaged in the demolition of Russian Fortifications of Bomarsund and Sveaborg.

Medals were issued unnamed but some privately had them named at their own expense.
