Item - Full Size museum standard copy Medal with ribbon and plastic medal wallet. NOT SUITABLE FOR WEARING OR ENGRAVING.

History and medal information - A saltire cross with four pointed star in angles, surmounted by a circular belt inscribed with Ashanti 1896 around a British Crown. The rear of the medal is inscribed from the Queen.

The medals were unnamed but the colonel of the west Yorkshire regiment had the medals of the second battalion engraved at his own expense. There were 2000 stars awarded to officers and men serving at the expedition led by Major General F C Scott against the tyrannical king Prempeh.
